How to draw a tarot card of the day online

  1. 1

Pause for a minute and think about the day ahead. You can hold a specific question in mind or simply tune in.

  2. 2

Click “Shuffle the deck.” All 78 cards will be shuffled, and each one can land upright or reversed.

  3. 3

Choose one card from the fan. You’ll see the theme of the day, the advice, and the card’s meaning for love, work, and money.

The card stays saved until the end of the day: if you come back to the page, you’ll see the same answer. That’s intentional. The card of the day is a guide for the whole day, not a lottery you replay until you get a lucky result.

How to read the card of the day

A single card doesn’t predict events. It sets a theme: what to pay attention to, what mood may come up, where to be more careful. This is how most practicing tarot readers approach the card of the day.

Upright, the card shows its theme in an open form. Reversed, it shows that the card’s energy is weakened, blocked, or going to an extreme. A reversed card isn’t “bad”: it hints at where something is currently going wrong.

A useful habit is to come back to the card in the evening and compare it with the day you’ve lived. After a couple of weeks, you’ll start to recognize how each card shows up in your own life. It’s the most hands-on way to learn the meanings of all 78 cards.

Card of the day meanings: the Major Arcana

The Major Arcana make up 22 of the deck’s 78 cards, so they come up less often than the Minor Arcana and usually mark days with a more noticeable theme. Here is what each of them means as the card of the day in the upright position.

For the meanings of the Minor Arcana, see the Card meanings section. If you need a quick answer to a specific question, try a yes or no tarot reading.

Frequently asked questions

How many times a day can you draw a card of the day?

Once. Repeated attempts defeat the purpose of the practice: the card of the day is a guide for the next 24 hours, not an answer you keep redrawing until you like it. On this page, the card is saved in your browser until midnight.

What should I do if I get a “bad” card?

There’s no need to be afraid. The Tower, the Ten of Swords, or Death as a card of the day show where you need to be careful today or what it’s time to let go of. Read the advice of the day: it will suggest what you can do.

What does a reversed card of the day mean?

The card’s theme is the same, but it shows up more weakly, with a delay, or in a distorted form. For example, a reversed Sun means the joy is there, but you aren’t noticing it. Reversed cards come up about half the time.

Is the card of the day free?

Yes. No registration and no limits, apart from one card per day.

What’s the difference between the Card of the Day and the Card for Tomorrow?

The Card of the Day is drawn for the current day, usually in the morning. The Card for Tomorrow is drawn the evening before, to tune in to the next day. Each has its own saved card, and they don’t overlap.

Which deck is used?

Heinrich Pangrau’s deck: 22 Major Arcana and 56 Minor Arcana. You can read about how it is put together on the deck page.
