Cards Tarot editorial team

Editorial policy

This page explains how our texts are made: where the facts come from, what role AI plays, and where we draw the line between the history of tarot and the tradition of card reading.

Who we are

Cards Tarot is a site about Heinrich Pangrau’s deck and about tarot in general: the meanings of all 78 cards, spreads, calculators and articles. The deck was created by Heinrich Pangrau using image generation; learn more on The deck page. The site’s texts are prepared by our editorial team — with no made-up experts and no fake reviews.

How we use AI

The articles, card descriptions and spread descriptions are written with the help of AI. We don’t hide this, and we don’t sign these texts with the names of people who didn’t write them.

AI works from a brief: topics and wording are based on what people actually search for, and facts come only from the sources cited in the article. Fact-checking is done by a separate AI instance that took no part in writing the text.

Sources

For the history and structure of tarot, we rely on primary sources and reference works: Arthur Waite’s book “The Pictorial Key to the Tarot” (1911), the Encyclopædia Universalis, and Wikipedia articles together with the sources they cite. Every factual statement in an article — a date, a name, a number, a quote — carries a footnote, and the list of sources is at the end.

How we check

  • Before publication, the text is checked against the sources for every footnote.
  • The numbers and examples in our calculators (destiny matrix, Arcana by date of birth) are recalculated by code.
  • When we find mistakes, we fix them and update the date on the page.

What’s fact and what’s tradition

The history of decks, the composition of the deck and the words of their authors are facts, and we cite sources for them. Card meanings, shuffling methods, “charging” and “cleansing” a deck are traditions and practices of tarot readers. We describe them as traditions: there is no scientific evidence that tarot readings predict the future. We don’t give advice on health, money or legal matters — for those, please see a professional.
